Chi Thanh town has a natural area of 1,442.39 hectares; of which agricultural land area is 1,112.71 hectares (rice growing land area is 205.7 hectares); non-agricultural land area is 252.12 hectares; land area is 1,112.71 hectares (rice growing land area is 205.7 hectares); unused one is 77.56 ha.

About terrain: The terrain structure of Chi Thanh town belongs to the coastal plain with two main types: plain and mountainous area incorporated with low valleys.

Plains: mainly rice fields and residential areas. There is a canal system of Ha Yen irrigation dam, ensuring proactive irrigation for the two winter-spring and summer-autumn crops.

Mountainous areas: distributed in the west and southwest of the town such as Hon Chong mountain, Ba mountain, Giong Bang mountain, Tam Giang pass which are all favorable terrain for developing forestry economy, livestock farming and many of them also serve for the purpose of national defense.

About soil: Chi Thanh town has two types

main land:

- Alluvial gley soil (Pg): Covers an area of 516 hectares, accounting for 38.84% of the natural land area, mainly distributed in Ngan Son, Truong Xuan, Chi Duc. The soil has an average CO content , average humus content, acidic pH; The soil layer is over 100 cm thick.

- The black soil group covers an area of about 923.75 hectares, accounting for 64.16% of the natural land area, distributed mainly in valleys and mountain slopes. This soil group is quite fertile, suitable for growing rice, crops, short-term industrial crops and fruit trees .

- Regarding weather and climate: Chi Thanh town is influenced by the climate of the Central Coastal Plain, so it is mainly hot and sunny, with monsoons lasting all year round. The duration of sunlight is quite high, averaging 2,500 - 3,000 hours/year. The climate here is divided into two distinct seasons: dry season and rainy season. The dry season starts from February to August. The rainy season is usually not long (about 2 - 3 months), from the end of August to November and December; heavy and prolonged rains are concentrated in October and November. The average annual rainfall is about 1,400 - 1,500 mm, so at the peak of the rainy season, it is often accompanied by winds and storms, causing localized flooding in some residential areas. The average temperature is 25 - 30°C; Sometimes when it is too hot, the outdoor temperature reaches 38 - 42°C, peaking in June, July and August. Such harsh weather has significantly affected the production, life and activities of the locals here.
